About the event
This private event is a fundraiser to help musician Kocasalle Dioubate achieve his dream of building a school for the orphans of war in his village Dubreka (pop 8300), in Guinea, West Africa. Koca is a gifted musician that holds the medicine of 64 generations of his Guinean ancestors who have all been master musicians and practitioners of oral magic since time immemorial. Each generation teaches the next, the songs of the ancestors and adds to the lineage of sound with their own written songs. Each musician in Koca's lineage also hand carves and build from plants and recycled materials the tools of their craft. Koca built and plays his majestic and unique instruments- the Kora and the Bolo. His learnt skill, natural ability and passion for music emanates through the frequency of his song.
